Beagle Poodle Mix
Facts About the Beagle Poodle Mix
There are countless types of “mutt” dogs that are incidentally adorable but one in particular, a beagle poodle mix, stands out as a great family pet.
A visit to the local Animal Shelter is a view to a compilation of mixed breed dogs, often the result of unfortunate encounters of family pets that have not been spayed or neutered. Pet owners generally are not in a position to house a family of dogs, and therefore as soon as the puppies have been weaned, they are siphoned off to friends, families and the remainder to shelters. Since the breeding was not a planned event, the resulting offspring can be a variety of different mating escapades. Dogs are not generally choosy when it comes to mating; an available and receptive female will likely be approached by a number of males of varying breeds in the neighborhood that are being drawn to the female’s musky scent. It can be like opening the infamous box of chocolates waiting for the pups to be born; you never know what you’re going to get.
There are also breeders who specialize in something called “designer” or “hybrid” dogs. These dogs are the result of careful mating between two different breeds of dogs that are comparable in characteristics, personalities and temperaments. The resulting puppies are generally in great demand because of their appearance or size. Some varieties are more popular than others. These designer dogs are labeled with cute designer names composed by joining the names of the two parentage breeds. When a beagle poodle mix is the combination, for example, it might be called a “poogle”, “beapoo” or “beagapoo”.
The two breeds, beagle and poodle, are considered to be compatible matches in size and temperament. Both breeds are good natured and are good with children; making them ideal as family pets. Loyal, good with strangers and other pets are attributes that both breeds share. Each of these dogs are strong willed; beagles, with their keen hunting sense are both determined and focused on what they view to be their prey. Poodles are also a bit headstrong, but due to their easily trainable nature, can be controlled if trained at an early age. Both the poodle and the beagle like regular activity and will benefit from daily romps. While each of these breeds carry predispositions towards certain disorders, they are considered to be generally healthy, with a life expectancy of around 15 years.
For families with members who suffer from allergies, the beagle poodle mix puppy can be an ideal pet. Allergies that children experience within the home are often due to the dander produced by the animal’s hair and released into the air. While the beagle is considered to be an average shedder, the poodle in contrast does not shed at all. When the two breeds are blended, the result is a puppy that sheds very little, if at all. No shedding means no dander, making this hybrid mix perfect for a family with an allergy sufferer.
The appearance of this designer dog can vary, depending on the dominant source of DNA. Some of the poogles are curly haired while others exhibit short, wiry coats. Some of the dogs will have the round, marble eyes of the poodle while another may possess the sad, brown eyes that people fall in love with on the beagle. The colors of the poogle may also vary, but common colorations are the familiar tri-color of the beagle, brown and white or black.
Whether the hybrid beagle poodle mix is the result of a careful breeding process or an incidental mix of nature taking its course, this combination can be a highly successful pet choice for families.
